GW Hospital Opens Helipad, Expands Access to Lifesaving Critical Care
The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) opened its helipad on Friday, November 8, 2019, expanding access to lifesaving critical care for the D.C. region. The helipad will help GW Hospital prevent unnecessary deaths throughout the Washington metropolitan area by enabling severely injured and critically ill patients to be airlifted to its designated Level I Trauma Center and designated Comprehensive Stroke Center. STAT MedEvac and PHI Air Medical are among the air medical transport companies GW Hospital is partnering with to provide this vital healthcare.
The helipad helps meet the needs of our growing region and better equips the District of Columbia, and beyond, to care for a surge of critical patients.
