May L. Chin, MD is Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, and Director of the Division of Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology at the George Washington University Medical Center. She is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine and is the Co-Director of the GW Pain Center.
Dr. Chin has presented and spoken at major national meetings including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. She has published in major medical journals and texts and has been invited to review articles on pain by the journals Pain Medicine and Anesthesia and Analgesia . She served on the American Medical Association (AMA) advisory board for the development of a continuing medical education series on pain management.
Dr. Chin has been involved with the inception and development of the Acute Pain Service and the advancement of the practice of pain medicine at the GW institution. Her areas of professional interest include regional techniques for acute, chronic and cancer pain, interventional spine techniques, neuromodulation, and pharmacological and interventional management of neuropathic pain. Dr. Chin is listed as one of the Washingtonian's "Top Doctors."
Dr. Chin earned her medical degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She trained in anesthesiology at the George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Chin completed her fellowship in critical care medicine at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services at the University of Maryland, and in pediatric anesthesia at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
