Chief, Division of Otolaryngology— Head and Neck Surgery
Steven Bielamowicz, MD, is Professor and Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at The George Washington University, and Division Director of Otolaryngology at GW Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). He specializes in the care of patients with voice, swallowing and airway disorders.
Dr. Bielamowicz, a native Texan, earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and completed two years of residency in General Surgery followed by a residency in Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at University of California-Los Angeles. He later completed a two-year fellowship in Laryngology at the National Institutes of Health.
The doctor served as Program Director of the otolaryngology residency at The George Washington University from 1999 to 2013. An elected member of several national societies, including The Triological Society and the American Laryngological Association, Dr. Bielamowicz has presented research papers at numerous national and international meetings. His research interests include laryngeal biomechanics, image-guided surgery and the neurological basis of laryngeal disease.
